Benson high school athletic banquet

The annual Benson High School Athletic Banquet has been established to recognize athletes that have excelled in the competitive arena as well as academically.  This banquet is intended to help encourage all around student athletes at Benson High School. 

This years banquet will be held Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.

 

Benson High School Year End Athletic Banquet Procedures and Requirements

Select Students Athletes will be invited to a banquet at the end of the year.  This banquet will include a meal, recognition certificate and awards ceremony.  Requirements to be invited:

  • 9th-11th grade 3 sport athletes

  • 12th grade 2 or 3 sport athletes

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

  • Non 3 sport 9th-11th grade and single sport 12th graders with a 3.5 or above Unweighted Cumulative GPA

  • Must have finished all sports seasons in good standing and completed the entire season

  • Parent/Guardians and immediate family of invited student athlete

Head Coaches Requirements

Head Coaches would provide rosters of players who have finished season in good standing.  A database will be created to track which athletes are qualified for the Legacy Banquet.  Spring sport coaches will need to supply a roster on May 1st based on current team standing.

The Legacy Foundation board will reserve the right to deny an athlete based on discipline or unethical behavior.  A vote would be taken to determine standing of that individual student.

If a class does not have a 3 sport athlete no award will be given. 

We will hold a Head Coaches meeting the first week of May where coaches will be given a list of qualified candidates they can vote on.  At this meeting, coaches will have an opportunity to speak on behalf of athletes they feel are deserving. 

  1. If a coach does not attend the meeting, an assistant may attend in their place. 

  2. If no coach attends from that sport they will not receive a vote. 

  3. Assistants must not be Head Coaches of another sport. 

  4. Head coaches of more than one sport must appoint an assistant from one of the sports to vote in their place.

    • Senior (Must be 2 sport letter winner)

  • The Bunny Program

    This award goes to any senior who participates, and completes a minimum of 10 sports seasons while at Benson High School.  This requires them to be a 3 sport athlete at least two years.

    Names will be placed on a plaque under their senior graduation year.

    Individuals who transfer to Benson after their freshman year can not fullfil requirements to receive this recognition.
